Strictly Come Dancing changes? Executive producer to leave show after six years

Strictly Come Dancing producer Louise Rainbow is quitting the show at the end of the series.

Rainbow has been at the helm of the glittery BBC show for six years but will step away next week, with series editor Sarah James taking over.

Rainbow will remain a big influence in the Strictly world, working as executive producer for the forthcoming live tour and consulting on next year’s series.

Speaking about her exit, Rainbow said: “Working on Strictly has been the most amazing six years of my career and it’s an honour to be the show’s longest-serving executive producer.

Bowing out: Louise Rainbow will step away from her executive producer role after the 2018 series (BBC)

“Over this time we have achieved amazing viewing figures and won numerous awards, including a Bafta and four NTAs.

“These achievements are down to one thing - the brilliant Strictly team. I will miss them so much but knowing that the wonderful Sarah is taking over guarantees they will be in safe and talented hands.”

James also spoke of her excitement to get started in the role having worked alongside the team for five years.

She added: “I’m looking forward to creating more fantastic shows that our viewers continue to take into their living rooms and their hearts.”

As well as her Strictly experience, James has worked on Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Big Brother.

This weekend’s semi-final will see the remaining five couples take on two dances to fight for their place in the grand final.

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One, Saturday at 6.35pm
