Chief medical officer Chris Witty has been reportedly linked with a shock appearance on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
An insider from the Saturday night smash hit show has claimed that BBC producers are keen at getting the 54-year-old as a result of his newfound fame.
It has also been claimed that Health Secretary Matt Hancock was in the running but due to his "hectic schedule" he's been "ruled out", the Mirror reports.
A show insider told the Sun: "Chris is top of the list, and discreet enquiries will be made over the next few weeks. However any decisions would depend on the rate of Covid infections in the country.
"Obviously it's all dependent on where we are on the R rate, but landing a star of the pandemic is the goal.
"Unfortunately it's been made clear Matt Hancock's hectic schedule won't allow for a weekly waltz - so he's been ruled out."
The BBC has been approached for comment.
Whispers of who will be taking to the famous dancefloor have been rife this week and the news that physician and epidemiologist Chris being wooed by TV bosses follows on from reports that the show also wants Stacey Solomon to take part.
It is thought that the Loose Women star was approached to take part in the 2020 series but declined due to not wanting to "quarantine away from her kids."
Now that restrictions are easing in England, the former X Factor personality is reportedly warming up to the idea of battling it out for the Glitterball trophy.
"The pandemic meant she wanted to be at home as much as possible to home-school her eldest two boys and because her youngest Rex was still a baby," The Sun recently told.
"Now things are on the roadmap to getting back to normal, Stacey is much more open to the idea of making the serious commitment which Strictly requires."
Other names who have been thrown in the mix, ahead of the 2021 launch of Strictly, are Good Morning Britain's Alex Beresford and Laura Tobin.
If one, or both, of the early morning TV personalities, are signed up it would not be the first time that an ITV face has appeared on the much-loved series as Susanna Reid, Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins have all taken to the dance floor.
Strictly Come Dancing is expected to return in the autumn.
