Strictly Come Dancing audience gasps as Tess Daly comforts Johannes Radebe after costly mistake

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly rushed to comfort Johannes Radebe - after he made a mistake in the final step of their routine.

The professional dancer and celebrity partner John Whaite are vying for a spot in the finals of the hit BBC dancing show.

But emotions were running high as the former Great British Bake Off star dropped Johannes at the end of their quarter final dance.

The pair made a mistake as they completed the final step in the routine - a daring lift.

Johannes dropped to the floor of the stage as the audience gasped, Birmingham Live reports.

The dancing duo were given a huge round of applause by the crowd as Johannes picked himself up and they made their way to the side of the stage for the judge's comments.

Host Tess Daly then asked Rhys a question after hearing him muttering a comment not picked up by microphones.

"Why are you saying sorry?" she asked the star.

"I gave him the wrong hand," Johannes painfully whined.

A reassuring Tess remarked: "Well he did very well considering."

"It doesn't matter," she added.

"It's live Johannes don't worry anything can happen."
