Strictly Come Dancing 2022: All the celebrities rumoured to take part this year

With Strictly Come Dancing's return just around the corner, fans of the popular BBC dancing show are dying to find out who will be taking to the dancefloor. With this year's professional dancers confirmed, the show, which will celebrate its 20th series when it returns, is known for attracting huge stars.

Strictly's previous series ended when EastEnders star, Rose Ayling-Ellis lifted the iconic glitterball with her dancing partner, Giovanni Pernice. In a series that boasted stars such as Dan Walker, Robert Webb and Tom Fletcher, the bar has been set high for this year's run.

Without further ado, it's time to look at the celebrities who are rumoured to take part. Remember to let us know in the comments what you think of these potential castings.

Helen Skelton

(Channel 5)

We open this list with Blue Peter and Countryfile star, Helen Skelton. Strictly Come Dancing superfans will, of course, recognise Helen for appearing in the 2012 Christmas special.

Helen, who has had a tough year away from TV screens after her and her husband split, is thought to be one of this year's "top targets" for producers, but it remains to be seen whether she will return to the dancefloor.

Steph McGovern

Swapping daytime TV for nighttime TV, Packed Lunch presenter Steph has reportedly turned down the chance to appear on Strictly before.

Producers remain hopeful that she will appear on this year's series.

Gino D'Acampo

Gino D'Acampo is no stranger to reality TV, having won the 2009 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Instead of watching snakes wriggle towards him, it will be his hips at work this time.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “They view Gino as someone who has universal appeal, who is up for a laugh and more than capable of keeping audiences entertained.”

Tom Daley

Olympic diver Tom Daley is reportedly being chased by both Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity. The gold-medal winning Olympian is said to be on the wish lists of both the BBC and ITV shows.

A source told The Daily Mail that producers are “racing to secure Tom” for their respective line ups.

Kym Marsh

Former Coronation Street actress and TV presenter, Kym Marsh, is another celebrity whom is in talks to appear on this year's Strictly. Kym has been rumoured for the show in the past with producers reportedly “pulling out all the stops” to get her on the dancefloor this year.

Mike Tindall

(Humphrey Nemar)

Rugby player and podcaster, Mike Tindall, could potentially feature, as producers are keen for a ‘royal contestant’ in the Jubilee year. Mike is married to Zara Tindall, granddaughter of the Queen.

Dawn French

Dawn French has revealed she’s been asked to take part in Strictly Come Dancing but fears saying yes in case she’s “made to do silly things”.

The comedian and actress told Graham Norton on his chat show: “I fear I would be regarded as the funny one and made to do silly things. I take dancing seriously and I would like to do proper dancing.”

George Webster

CBeebies presenter, George Webster (BBC)

Looking to follow in the footsteps of fellow CBeebies presenter, Rhys Stephenson, George Webster is tipped to head into the Strictly ballroom. George, who is also an actor, dancer and ambassador for the charity Mencap, made history last year by becoming CBeebies’ first presenter with Down’s syndrome.

Scarlett Moffatt

Another I’m A Celebrity winner, Scarlett Moffatt, told DigitalSpy of the rumours: “The Strictly people think I’m this pro dancer because I do a few dances on TikTok. I think everyone thinks I’m a professional dancer.

“I just love dancing. It just makes you feel happy. Anything that makes you feel happy, I would sign myself up for.”
