Strictly Come Dancing 2021 to include Blackpool as insider spills details including start date

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left excited after an insider revealed plans for this year, which include a full series and a return for a much loved tradition.

While it went ahead last year, much to the delight of millions of viewers, Strictly 2020 was a very different show to what we're all used to due to the coronavirus pandemic; with judge Bruno Tonioli absent due to travel restrictions, the series starting later, no studio audience at all for the majority of episodes and many group performances pre-recorded.

Olympic boxer Nicola Adams and her pro partner Katya Jones were forced to withdraw from the competition after Katya tested positive for Covid-19 and another thing missing last year was Strictly's annual excursion to Blackpool.

However, The Sun are reporting that plans are in place for a return to the seaside town, dubbed 'the Vegas of the north,' with a date of November 20 set down for a live show at the famous Tower Ballroom.

And, bosses are also planning on taking the show back to its usual length of 13 weeks, rather than making it shorter like last year, with a start date of September 25 and the final taking place on December 18.

An insider told The Sun: "Strictly and the BBC set the gold standard last year in terms of putting a show on during a pandemic.

"They’re going to use what they learned to put on a full series this year.

"That means 13 episodes will be returning — and all of the themed weeks."

Fans were quick to react to the news, with one tweeting: "yay strictly will be back to normal this year 13 weeks an blackpool too"
