Strictly Come Dancing 2021 line up: Who is swimmer Adam Peaty

The latest series of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off last weekend which saw 15 new celebs paired up with their professional dancers.

One by one the couples got paired up, which saw the likes of Nina Wadia, Rhys Stephenson and Robert Webb in the mix.

The string of celebs will battle is out through the weeks to see who is crowned the best dancer of the bunch and lift the glitterball trophy.

There are multiple star studded celebs and Olympian Adam Peaty is in the selection.

But how did he get where he is today?

Early life

Adam Peaty is 26 years old with his birthday on 28 December 1994.

He's the youngest of four children to his parents Mark and Caroline.

Adam is from Staffordshire town of Uttoxeter, near Burton-on-Trent and started swimming at his local club Dove Valley Swimming Club, already setting the speed record for the club when he was 12.

In 2009 he started training at the City of Derby swimming club whilst studying and then he started training full-time in 2017 at Loughborough University.

Adam is currently in a relationship with his girlfriend Eirianedd Munro ('Eiri' for short) who is an artist.

The pair met whilst they were both studying at Loughbrough University as she was studying Fine Art.

The couple have a son George together who was born in 2020.

Swimming success

Adam specialises in breaststroke and has been named the fastest at breaststroke in the world.

He won the gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Olympics which is the first by a male British swimmer in 24 years.

He then retained the title at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 2021, the first British swimmer ever to retain an Olympic title.

He is also an eight-time World Champion, a sixteen-time European Champion and a three-time Commonwealth Champion.

The Olympian is the holder of the world record in 50 metre and 100 metre breaststroke events and he has broken world records 14 times, becoming the first man to swim under 26 seconds for the 50 metre breaststroke and the first to swim the 100 metre breaststroke under both 58 and 57 seconds.

Strictly's first live shows kick off this weekend so we will see if Adam is as good on land as he is on water.
