Strictly Come Dancing has always been classy – and now bosses want get their hands on a Mercedes.
They are keen to persuade Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Hollyoaks’ Mercedes McQueen, to show off her moves again.
In 2011 Jen entertained audiences on ITV’s Dancing on Ice – and the 36-year-old could be the perfect signing for the BBC prime time show.
A source said: “Soap stars always do well on Strictly and Jen is one of the most loved and sexiest out there right now.
“Everyone working on the show is very excited at the prospect of her signing.
“She’s been at the centre of some of Hollyoaks’ biggest ever storylines over the years.
“Only last year, her character was shot as she spun around a dance floor.
“People are joking that it was like her Strictly audition when she filmed those scenes.”
Hollyoaks has its 25th anniversary in October so having Jen on Saturday night’s biggest show would make it a double celebration.
But she would have some big shoes to fill as Hollyoaks stars have a history of doing well on Strictly.
Smooth movers Ricky Whittle, 38, who played cop Calvin Valentine, Danny Mac, 32, who was Mark “Dodger” Savage and Chelsee Healey, 31, from the McQueen clan, all made it to the final.
Ashley Taylor Dawson, 38, who is Darren Osborne, also made the quarter-finals.
Jen will have to up her game to rival her castmates’ success.
In Dancing on Ice, she was the third contestant to be eliminated – but she still made headlines after falling for her French skating partner Sylvain Longchambon, 39.
When the pair split, he started dating his 2013 ice partner, Coronation Street actress Samia Ghadie, 37. They went on to marry and have son Yves, four.
Jen has been dating Geordie Shore’s Greg Lake, 35, since 2012 and the pair have a three-year-old son, Daye. But if Jen’s home life is settled, her character’s is anything but.
Since arriving in Hollyoaks in 2006, Mercedes has had a turbulent time with numerous affairs.
Jen quit Hollyoaks in 2014 and it looked like her character had been killed off.
But she surprised fans the next year when it was revealed Mercedes was still alive and Jen would be returning to the show.
