Strictly bosses are said to be keen on pairing soap star Katie McGlynn with Giovanni Pernice in the upcoming series of the hit dance competition.
However, they are aware that such a pairing could cause tension between the dancer and his new flame Maura Higgins.
The former Corrie star, 28, was linked with the hunky Italian five years ago but he is now romantically coupled with the former Love Island contestant.
Giovanni has also previously dated Corrie actress Georgia May Foote, 30, and partnered with her on the 2015 edition of the dance contest.
And Strictly bosses think that a pairing with Katie would create an explosive partnership, but they are aware it could cause tension in the dancer's private life.
A source told The Sun : "This would be a dream ticket for Strictly producers, but a potential nightmare for the trio concerned.
"The show’s bosses always strive to pair up pros and celebrities likely to have the most chemistry. In that respect, Giovanni and Katie are an obvious choice.
"But they have to consider if that could have the knock-on effect of making life so difficult outside of the rehearsal studio that it might impact on their performances."
Giovanni also dated Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts when she appeared on Strictly in 2018 and was romantically linked with Katie after the pair were spotted together at an awards ceremony.
The actress, who plays Sinead Tinker on the popular soap, previously denied their involvement.
Speaking to The Sun in April she insisted the pair "weren't dating" and had only met briefly.
Giovanni hadn't long split from Georgia at the time.
The Italian dancer recently went public with Irish beauty Maura, 30, after rumours the pair were an item surfaced earlier in the year.
The loved-up pair were seen enjoying a stay at the Shangri-La in London, the luxury five star hotel that is located in The Shard on Sunday.
Clearly impressed with their romantic getaway, Maura shared snaps on her Instagram Stories and showcased the pair's breathtaking view from her home for the evening.
The official pairings for this year's Strictly Come Dancing won’t be unveiled until next month’s launch show.
