Strictly, Bake Off and other shows look set to be postponed

The BBC and other channels look set to put back planned launches of new TV series during the next two weeks as the nation mourns Queen Elizabeth II, according to reports., That will mean delaying the return of Strictly Come Dancing, Great British Bake Off and Ru Paul's Drag Race.

Strictly Come Dancing was set to return for 2022 with a launch show on September 17 - which will now be just two days before the expected day of Queen Elizabeth's funeral. Great British Bake Off was set to start on Tuesday, September 13 on Channel 4 - but that will now fall during the period of official mourning that lasts until after the Queen's funeral.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season 4 premieres on Thursday, September 22, on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer - which may be seen as too soon after the funeral.

Channel 4 was also planning to show a satirical musical about Prince Andrew next month which will likely;y be delayed. The Crown was also set to air on Netflix next month, but production has been paused.

Topical comedy shows on TV and radio are unlikely to be aired during the mourning period, especially those on the BBC.
