Strictly 2020: Judge shake-up has Cheryl and Anton du Beke tipped as front runners

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 could have a new judge in the mix this year and Cheryl and Anton du Beke are tipped as front runners.

Current Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli may end up missing the first few weeks of the new series if he is unable to fly back and forth from his base in America due to travel restrictions.

The big personality usually spends the beginning of the series splitting his time between the UK and Los Angeles due to his filming commitments with Dancing With The Stars - the American version of the hit dancing show.

There's still some uncertainly about whether the regular set-up is going to be possible this year due to restrictions around the coronavirus outbreak and now bookies have tipped that Cheryl, 36, and Strictly professional Anton, 53, are high on the list to swoop in.

Betway’s Chad Yeomans said: "2020’s socially distanced Strictly Come Dancing will be like nothing we have seen before from the BBC show, and the same can be said for the celebrated judging panel.

"Bruno Tonioli is looking set to put down his UK score paddles and solely focus stateside on the US version, Dancing With The Stars.

"This creates space for a new dancing superstar to round out the fierce foursome. Princess of Pop, Cheryl is at head of the market at 6/4 to quickstep into the vacant seat. But Strictly veteran and fan favourite, Anton Du Beke is at hot on her tail at 5/2 to foxtrot his way onto the judging panel."

Other possible replacements could be former Strictly star Kevin Clifton - with the betting company placing odds on him being signed as a judge as 8/1.

Another Strictly face who is on the list is Oti Mabuse - with odds on her sitting next to her sister Motsi on the panel being 8/1.

They are considering plenty of options, including isolating the pros together and filming group dances ahead of schedule, while the stars and their partners may be able to form their own bubbles.

Telly chiefs are also working out ways to maintain socially distancing in the studio, including for hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
