Wild Youth lead singer Conor O’Donohoe has revealed he works out every day, visits a vocal doctor, is on a strict diet and will ditch the booze in a bid for Eurovision glory this May.
The group will represent Ireland in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool on May 9 with their song We Are One.
Conor revealed to us that he will be doing everything he can to make sure he gives a solid performance on the global stage.

He revealed to us: “Eurovision preparation is well and truly underway.
“I think the only thing we can control is what we can control. What I mean by that is all we can do is stay fit, stay healthy, stay on top of everything, keep my vocals rested, make sure we’re prepared, make sure everything is set up.
“We don’t leave any stone unturned in making sure we deliver the best possible performance that we believe that we can deliver, and we believe that is the most important thing.
“Once we do that, everything else is out of our hands. It’s all being taken very seriously. Every day, I am training with a trainer, making sure I am as fit as possible, I’m doing singing lessons all the time, I’m going to a vocal doctor to make sure my voice is okay.
“A lot of work and a lot of effort. Dietary plans are underway.
“We really are making sure that we will be the best version of ourselves that night and regardless of what happens in that semi-final or final, we can turn around and say we gave this absolutely everything we have.
“There wasn’t a night where I went out and had drinks, my voice wasn’t 100 percent. Everything is well and truly focussed on giving the best performance as performance.”
Conor opened up about how he is working closely with RTE’s Eurovision Head of Delegation Michael Kealy to create the perfect staging.
“The stage is going to be very cool, I think. I think we’re touching on some past stuff and some influence on maybe some Irish past winners and also giving a modern twist on it so myself and Michael Kealy – I’ve put a lot of work into the staging and how it is going to look and we’re very proud with what we’ve come up with.
“We’re really really excited about how it turns out.
“It’s more so just like staging and stuff.
“I wish it wasn’t all so important and I wish I could let things go a little bit more but every aspect of artwork to the staging to the clothes to how the song sounds, everything is so important to me.
“Staging is incredibly important to me. I’m just hoping that what I have in my head comes across and people will love it.”
Conor said representing his country has always been a huge goal of his.
“Everyone loves Eurovision. I love everything on scale. I love the outrageous outfits, I love the songs, music and performances. So I’ve always been a big fan of Eurovision.
“It intrigued me for a long time.
“I played some sports when I was younger, and I never represented my country in anything. That’s always been a huge goal of mine to represent my country in something,” he added.
