Part of the M80 will be closed for several nights next week to allow Scotland TranServ to resurface the road.
Junction 1 to 2, between Blochairn and Royston, is a busy route already - and drivers have been warned to allow additional time for their journeys in case of delays.
Omar Sarwar, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Network Design Engineer said: This is one of the busiest motorway stretches in Scotland, and we’ll be working through the night in order to reduce the impact on the thousands of commuters and businesses using this key route into Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire and Stirlingshire every day.
“Because of the scale of the resurfacing project, the work will be undertaken through a programme of five overnight closures, which will be implemented when the volume of vehicles is sufficiently low.
“Scotland TranServ has been working in consultation with a number of local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders to carefully schedule these works. The project has been planned, where possible, to avoid impacting drivers returning from major events.”
Approximately 1.4km of the M80 Northbound from Junction 1 to 2 will be closed off overnight between Tuesday, October 22 to Sunday, October 27.
The full times are as follows:
- 10pm on Tuesday 22 until 6am on Wednesday 23 October
- 10pm on Wednesday 23 until 6am on Thursday 24 October
- 12am on Friday 25 until 6am on Friday 25 October – in order to avoid disruption to football traffic
- 10pm on Friday 25 until 6am on Saturday 26 October
- 10pm on Saturday 26 until 6am on Sunday 27 October
