Stretch of M8 slipway closed as police rush to scene of two-car crash

A stretch of M8 slipway has been closed following a crash between two cars this morning.

The collision happened at around 6.25am when police were called to the scene at the junction of Bartiebeith Road, Wellhouse Road and the M8 slipway.

Officers remain at the scene while the vehicles are recovered, and have closed off the road, with Glasgow City Council's traffic information team also confirming the closure.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 6.25am on Friday, 9 April, to a report of a two car crash on Bartiebeith road, Glasgow. Officers are currently at the scene and the road is closed between the M8 slipway and Easter Queenslie Road while the vehicles are recovered."

The extent of any injuries is not currently known at this time.

A statement from the council added: "Due to a road traffic collision, the junction of Bartiebeith Road / Wellhouse Road / M8 off West / M8 on West is subject to restrictions until further notice. Emergency Services are in attendance and road users should follow their direction."

Drivers have been asked to follow police diversions currently in place.
