A busy city centre road has been closed to all traffic due to "falling debris" from a hotel.

Hope Street has been blocked off between Argyle Street and Waterloo Street due to the incident at the Yotel hotel.

Drivers have been warned to expect congestion and delays in the surrounding city centre area.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of the incident and are currently in attendance. No one was injured in the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Argyle Street, Glasgow around 2.10pm on Saturday 11 January, 2020 following reports of debris falling from a hotel.

"There are no injuries and officers are in attendance for traffic management with the road temporarily closed between Argyll and Waterloo Street."

A Glasgow City Council statement reads: "Hope Street is currently closed to all traffic between Argyle Street and Waterloo Street due to falling debris from the Yotel hotel.

"Emergency services are currently on site and road users should expect congestion on surrounding streets."
