Stretch of Glasgow's Craighall Road to be closed for eight days for essential works

A stretch of a busy Glasgow road will be closed for eight days while essential works take place.

Craighall Road will be shut between North Canal Bank Street and Speirs Wharf while carriageway and footway resurfacing works take place.

The operation will begin on October 27 and last until November 5 with working hours between 8am and 4pm.

A statement from Glasgow City Council's traffic information team reads: "The Glasgow City Region City Deal is designed to unlock strategic development sites and support the delivery of an improved transport network across the Glasgow and Clyde Valley area. Glasgow City Council has secured City Deal funding to deliver the Canal and North Gateway (CNG).

"The proposed works on Craighall Road form part of the wider Civic Realm improvement works on North Canal Bank Street. In order to continue with these works, a road closure will be necessary on Craighall Road to facilitate carriageway and footway resurfacing works on Craighall Road and Speirs Wharf.

"The road closure shall commence on 27th October 2021 and shall be in operation until 5th November 2021. Working hours shall be Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1600hrs."

Diversions will be in place for drivers via North Canal Bank Street and Borron Street. Local access to premises on Speirs Wharf will still be possible via this route.
