Street shut off by police after wall suddenly collapses onto pavement below

A street in Urmston has been left covered in rubble this morning after a wall collapsed.

Police received calls just after midnight on Friday of a collapsed wall on Woodsend Road in Urmston.

Police responded and cordoned off the site after evacuating the restaurant below.

Trafford Council building inspectors are currently at the site to assess the situation.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said: “A council officer has been at the scene from the early hours of this morning to speak to residents and ensure they were safe and kept informed of the situation.

“The property is currently being assessed by structural engineers to investigate the cause of the collapse.

“We are very relieved that no-one was injured from the falling masonry.”
