Street 'shut down' after death in house

A street was "shut down" after a death in a Mangotsfield house today (November 27).

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokeswoman said emergency services were called to a concern for welfare incident in a Greenside home at 10.40am.

She added: "Sadly the individual died. The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers will be preparing a report for the coroner.”

Update: On November 28, Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed a baby had died.

A spokesman said: "Sadly, a baby boy has died. His death is not being treated as suspicious and officers will be preparing a report for the coroner.”

A man who lives in the area told Bristol Live: "It happened when the binmen were on the street.

"They were saying it was a newborn baby. The binmen went into the house and gave CPR, but the baby died."

Another witness said the "whole street was shut down" as emergency services attended.

His partner said: "I saw a child being taken out while all the emergency services were there."

She reported seeing four ambulance vehicles, four police vehicles and two emergency doctor cars.

The woman said emergency services arrived on the scene at around 10.40am and left around two hours later.

South Western Ambulance Service declined to comment.
