Street shooting sparks police appeal over 'silver car' seen in area

Police have launched an investigation after a shooting in Wallasey .

Officers were called to reports a gunman had shot at a home on Lea Road at around 9.15pm on Thursday.

The blast caused damage to a window of the property but no-one was inside.

Detectives are appealing for details of a silver coloured car seen in the street at the time of the incident.

Chief Inspector Matt Smith said: “The property was empty at the time but this was obviously a reckless act which could have had a different outcome.

“Our enquiries are at an early stage but we are keen to speak to anyone in the area around Lea Road who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone in the local community who believes they have captured something significant on their car’s dash-cam or CCTV.

“Firearms have no place on our streets and we will take action to find the people who are responsible for carrying them or using them to cause fear or intimidation in our communities.

"If you have information please come forward and speak to us [on 101 or via @MerPolCC] or give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
