A section of a road in Kirkby was closed off by police after a cyclist came off his bike.
The emergency services were called out to Whitefield Drive on Sunday morning following reports of an accident. Police soon closed off a section of the road near a parade of shops.
Photographs from the scene showed a large police presence on the road.
A police spokesman said a cyclist came off his bike after suffering a suspected "medical episode." He has since been taken to hospital.
There were reports that the Air Ambulance had also landed nearby.
No other vehicle was thought to have been involved in the incident.

The police cordon was lifted at around lunchtime.
Police did not have further information on the man's condition at the time of writing.
