Police were called to a residential street after reports shots were fired at a block of flats in Bootle.
The incident is believed to have happened last night (December 27) in Thackery Gardens, off Harris Drive in Bootle.
A local man told the ECHO that a gunman opened fire at a block of flats in Thackery Gardens. He said: "We heard a gun shot late last night. It's normally very quiet around here so this has shocked locals."
The man, who asked not be named, said police remained at the scene this morning.
A member of the public sent in photographs which showed a police cordon in place, with part of the street sealed off.
The ECHO has approached police for a comment.
