Street on lockdown after reports of shots fired near pub

A large city street was sealed off by police after reports of shots being fired in the area.

Police rushed to Westminster Road, close to the Elm Tree Pub, in Kirkdale, following a tip that a firearm had been discharged in the vicinity.

Officers attended the scene, at around 9pm on Saturday night, and carried out a search of the area.

This morning, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said nothing had been found.
