Street near Barlinnie prison locked down and two arrested amid 'disturbance'

Cops locked down a Glasgow street outside the city's Barlinnie prison last night amid a 'disturbance'.

And two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Glasgow Live reports.

Emergency services rushed to Smithycroft Road in Riddrie at around 6pm last night with a section of the main road taped off according to witnesses.

Ambulances were also in attendance with a dramatic picture showing several emergency vehicles on the street.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live: "There are loads of police and ambulances with lights on and a section of the road is taped off."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.20pm on Tuesday, 5 October, officers were called to the Smithycroft Road area of Glasgow following a report of a disturbance.

"We can confirm that two men have been arrested and further enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.”
