Street food favourite Brother Thai is opening a permanent shop in Cardiff

Brother Thai have been serving their filled rotis to hungry customers since 2015 at food festivals across the country.

Now lovers of their delicious food will be able to visit them on a more permanent basis as they open their first bricks and mortar shop in Cardiff.

The Thai Roti Bar will be found at the former site of the Cocorrico patisserie on Whitchurch Road and is set to open on Thursday, July 8 .

The patisserie, run by Bake Off: The Professionals winner, Laurian Veaudor, will move upstairs where he'll continue to sell to local restaurants and also host courses.

Founded by owner Andrew Chongsathien, Brother Thai is famous for its Sticky Beef Roti which has been served at street food events and pop-ups, like Depot, Street Feast Cardiff's events and more, for the past six years.

Enveloped in a crispy-edged roti, the special-spiced coated beef is sticky and sweet but with a kick.

Back in 2017 the stall won top prize in the vegetarian category of the UK Street Food Awards, with the Thai roti of spiced jackfruit and shiitake mushroom with homemade vegan “coco-jam” sauce being named Best Vegetarian Dish.

The new Brother Thai Roti Bar is in great company on Whitchurch Road with Turkish cafe Longa, burger restaurant, Got Beef, Italian La Pentola and many more eateries nearby.
