Let's hope the Hadoukens are just as fire as we're expecting...
To help get you pumped for Street Fighter's big screen return, we've put together a guide on everything you need to know about the Street Fighter. That includes the release date, cast list, plot details, first-look footage, trailer, and more.
Street Fighter movie release date

The Street Fighter movie will be released in US theaters on October 16, 2026. The film was delayed in early 2025 after its original release date on March 20, 2026, but let's hope there aren't any more delays. The 2026 release window was first confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter back in 2024.
Kitao Sakurai is directing the project, and filming officially kicked off on August 18, 2025, in Australia. We aren't sure on the production timeline just yet, but we suspect we'll hear more news soon. Keep an eye on this page for updates!
Street Fighter trailer
The first Street Fighter trailer was unveiled during the Game Awards 2025. More about establishing the vibes than its plot, it offers glimpses of almost every character from Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's Balrog and David Dastmalchian's M. Bison to Callina Liang's Chun-Li and Andrew Koji's Ryu. Check it out above.
Set to Joey Valance and Brae's 'Punk Tactics', it looks slightly sillier than we were expecting, with the actors rocking game-accurate looks. Some of them are super out there, too, like Guile's bright-blonde flat top and vest combo... and we're here for it.
Street Fighter movie cast

Everyone knows that Street Fighter has some of the most iconic characters in video game history, so obviously, the Street Fighter movie's cast list has to be stacked. And, stacked it is with a handful of A-listers now on board, all of whom's involvement was unveiled via a first look back in early September 2025.
Jason Momoa and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson are some of the big names attached to the flick, while some others have fans chatting for different reasons. The casting of Andrew Schulz as the Hong Kong-born Dan Hibiki has definitely raised a few eyebrows in the Fighter community. It'll be interesting to see how the inclusion of some personalities that don't match the original characters' backgrounds affects the story of the film as well as its reception, for sure. But for a full breakdown, we've listed every actor signed onto the movie below so far.

More recently, over on Reddit, we've been blessed with a first look at Callina Liang's Chun-Li, too.
Street Fighter movie plot speculation

Here's the official synopsis for the upcoming Street Fighter movie:
"Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don't, it's GAME OVER!"
Most of the Street Fighter games revolve around some kind of global fighting tournament, which also tends to have some kind of connection to criminal organizations. Judging from the official synopsis, the upcoming movie is taking inspiration from the second game in the long-running franchise, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.
In Street Fighter 2, the leader of the Shadaloo organization, M. Bison, sets up a global fighting tournament. However, this isn't because he loves martial arts; it's actually a step in his plan for world domination. Basically, his plan involves some brainwashing of the best fighters around. There are also some characters that have some personal reasons for seeking revenge against the villain, too – you know, because it turns out that brainwashing is only one of his many offences.
