Street fight in Leeds city centre leaves man with serious injuries

A man was hospitalised after suffering serious injuries in a street fight in Leeds city centre on Friday night.

West Yorkshire Police received reports of an alleged assault on Kirkgate at around 10:30pm last night (Friday, August 9) and arrived to find a 54-year-old man with serious injuries.

A cordon was erected at the end of Call Lane as paramedics arrived to treat the injured man. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment and his condition is stable, with the injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Police officers arrested a 50-year-old man at the scene and he remains in custody. Enquiries remain ongoing.
