Street cordoned off after wall of children's nursery collapses

A street was closed today following a partial building collapse.

Photographs from the scene show the damage caused to the side of the Kids in Bloom Nursery, West Derby, believed to have been caused by bad weather and high winds.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue confirmed that three fire engines attended the scene on Almonds Green.

Crews arrived at the scene around 12.40pm where they found the partial collapse of a two story commercial property.

Fire crews deemed the area unsafe on arrival and cordoned off the street and confirmed that the damaged building was unoccupied at the time, however a nearby vehicle sustained damage from the falling bricks.

Emergency services liaised with the owner of the building at the scene.

Merseyside Police also attended the scene, with emergency services leaving at around 1.53pm.

The nursery took to Twitter to report the incident to parents, they sad :"Strong winds have taken away a wall of the nursery.

"All should be ok for Monday but please check socials."
