Street cordoned off after man attacked at house in Heywood

A woman has been arrested after a man was left with cuts and bruises following an attack at a house in Heywood.

Police were called to reports of an assault on Aspinall Street at 2am on Saturday morning.

Officers attended and arrested a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of a section 18 assault.

She remains in custody for questioning.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious cuts and bruising to his face.

Aspinall Street remains cordoned off at the house while detectives investigate.

Forensic officers are at the scene and a tent has been put up outside the property.

Traffic is unable to get down the road.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2.15am on Saturday 11 May 2019 police were called to a property on Aspinall Street to reports that a 23-year-old man had been assaulted.

"Officers attended and a 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault. She is currently in custody for questioning.

"The man was taken to hospital where he received treatment for serious cuts and bruising to his face."
