March 13--Traffic woes tied to President Obama's trip to Los Angeles are expected to continue Friday morning as he leaves the city following quick visits to "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and a fundraising event.
Early-morning commuters heading to work near Los Angeles International Airport and the InterContinental Hotel, where Obama is staying, will have to navigate through a series of street closures from approximately 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., officials said.
Areas around Avenue of the Stars, Overland and South Centinela avenues and Westwood, West Pico, National and Ocean Park boulevards will be closed.
Obama's visit caused traffic gridlock in some areas during the Thursday evening commute after police closed streets in Burbank, Hollywood and Santa Monica as the president traveled to his planned stops.
Frustrated drivers took to Twitter to moan about the latest #ObamaJam.
"#Obamajam going to mess up my commute in the a.m. LA traffic bad enough, why not plan movement after rush hour!," Tina Macica tweeted.
After appearing on Kimmel's late-night TV show in Hollywood, Obama attended a roundtable discussion hosted by ICM Partners co-founder Chris Silbermann and his wife, Julia Franz.
The fundraising event, which cost $33,400 per couple to attend, supported election operations for the Democratic National Committee.
On Friday, Obama is scheduled to Phoenix, where he is to visit the VA Medical Center.
Obama's latest visit to California comes nearly a month after a trip to the state in which he attended a DNC fundraiser in San Francisco and played golf with friends in Palm Springs.
