Street art in the Southland: Send us your photos

March 23--Last week, Google added more than 5,000 images of public art to its Google Art Project searchable worldwide database, which allows people an easy way to search for and view murals on streets from Los Angeles to Berlin.

The Google Street Art database launched in June 2014.

"By its nature, most street art is temporary and not really accessible," said Amit Sood, head of the Google Cultural Institute, which aims to preserve and promote culture through online exhibitions. The street art project, Sood said, is "about trying to integrate art into your daily life."

An expansion party was held in downtown L.A.'s Arts District on March 17.

To help celebrate the expansion, The Times pulled together a photo gallery, shown above, of murals and street art found around Southern California.

But we're sure we missed some. Now, we want to see photos from you, our readers. Do you often see a colorful piece of street art that you love? We want to see it!

Tweet your photos to @LANow. Use the hashtag #SoCalMurals. Please include the mural's location and, if you can, any other information you have on the piece. We'll showcase some of the best photos we get.

Times staff writers Saba Hamedy and Deborah Vankin contributed to this report.
