Streatham shooting: 'Terrorist' seen lying on ground before armed police surround him

Chilling footage captures armed police surround a suspected terrorist'wearing a fake suicide vest' and point guns at him in a city street.

The confrontation happened minutes after .

Horrified residents in Streatham, south London, said they saw victims covered in blood on the pavement as armed police swoop.

In the clip, at least three armed officers get out of a police car and surround the suspect.

Onlookers, some distance in the background, can be seen being kept away from the man. The suspect was then shot dead by officers at around 2pm.

Luke Woodward, who has lived on the major thoroughfare for nearly 10 years, told Mirror Online: "There were three guys hurt, each probably aged between 25 - 35. One man was holding his abdomen and collapsed in a pool of blood on the pavement.

"He obviously lost a lot of blood."

The tour guide, who has a newborn baby, said: "I heard a loud bang followed by shouting.

"At first I thought maybe a car back firing and a bit of road rage. Then seconds later there ere three to five more loud bangs and a lot more shouting.

"I looked out of my window and saw a man staggering outside a Cash Converter opposite my flat. He seemed to walk about 5 yards before collapsing. There was a lot of blood where he had originally been standing."

The person on the floor appears motionless and is wearing grey trousers, black shoes and a green jacket.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: "We are working closely with the other emergency services and are treating a number of patients at the scene.

"We will provide more details as soon as they are available."

Police remain in Streatham as . Residents say they've been told to remain their homes.

A spokesman for Met Police said: "We believe there are two injured victims. We await updates on their conditions.

"The scene has been fully contained."
