Streatham pole attack: Boy, 13, off critical list after being struck on head near school in south London

A 13 year-old schoolboy who suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain after he was hit with a metal pole is off the critical list.

The teenager was struck as he left Dunraven School in Leigham Court Road, Streatham, at 3.30pm on Wednesday.

He is surrounded by family in hospital and his condition was considered life-threatening. However, in an update his condition was described as “non life-threatening”. 

In a statement police said: “His condition has been assessed as non life threatening and non life changing.”

The attacker is alleged to have hit the boy in the head with the pole before moving on to several other pupils and a teacher.

The other children had minor injuries.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
