Stream the Philadelphia Phillies All Season Long: Season Preview, Phillies Schedule, How to Watch MLB Online Without Cable

For the Philadelphia Phillies, the 2019 season is no longer about intangible goals and rebuilding projects. They now have Bryce Harper, the most coveted free agent in baseball this past offseason, and the former National joins a pretty stacked lineup to form one of the deepest offensive groups in the league. Combine that with a strong bullpen and potential bounce-back seasons from their starters, and we could be looking at a division winner that will make noise in the playoffs if all their stars play to their potential.

After a couple of years of rebuilding and losing, the Phillies really want to win, and they made investments to show that. Bryce Harper is the biggest possible addition a team could make this season, but it’s not just him: Harper will be part of what would already be a potent lineup even without him: JT Realmuto, Jean Segura, and Andrew McCutchen are the other new faces in the offense and join the dynamic duo of Rhys Hoskins and Cesar Hernandez to form one of the deepest, most talented starting lineups in baseball.

Philly’s top six players can be moved all around the lineup depending on matchups, and the on-base prowess from McCutchen and Hernandez will be a huge asset. We could be looking at a lot of two-run homers from the Phils this season, especially if Harper has a great hitting season. If the offense clicks, it’ll be up to the pitching department to not waste the runs and close games without much issue. Aaron Nola and Jake Arrieta are really good, but it’s about rotation players like Nick Pivetta and Vince Velasquez, as well as the bullpen. If the pitchers do their job, Philly will be a really strong contender.

Philly fans hope that the pain and suffering is over, and there’s certainly enough talent in this team to make sure that happens. Can Philadelphia put all the pieces together and shock the world this season?
