Strawberry Moon visible in Scotland tonight - here's when to spot it

Sky gazers could be in luck tonight of catching a glimpse of the June full Strawberry moon.

The supermoon will appear red in colour and is often called the Strawberry Moon because it signals the time of year for gathering ripe fruit.

However, it is not the only name for the moon as an old European name is the Mead Moon or Honey Moon, the Mirror reports .

This is because the time around the Summer solstice at the end of June is when honey is ripe and ready to be harvested from hives or from the wild.

Tonight around 9.30pm will be the best time to spot the moon when it rises above the horizon.

Tonight's weather is raining on and off with some cloud cover, but you should be able to catch a glimpse of it.

For your best chance of seeing it, wait until its fully dark outside and, if you can, head to an area with little light pollution out of the city.

This will make the moon appear even brighter in the night sky.
