Straw version of battleship from 'Star Blazers' anime built in park

A large straw structure representing a spaceship from a popular anime has appeared in Yasu no Sato Koen park in Chikuzen, Fukuoka Prefecture. Dubbed a "scarecrow" and measuring 16.6 meters long and 4.8 meters high, the spaceship is from "Uchu Senkan Yamato 2202 Ai no Senshitachi" (Star Blazers 2202). A group of local residents spent three weeks building the ship's framework out of iron and bamboo before covering the entire body with straw. The structure will be on show until mid-January.
