The group tweeted a picture of them in the hall this morning alongside the caption:

"We are now in occupation! Tell your friends, tell your dugs. Stay tuned!

"All university staff deserve secure contracts without the burden of precarity, unfair workloads, or pay inequality."

The group are calling for the resignation of senior members of staff at the university.

They are also demanding a full investigation into 'rampant mismanagement, alleged corruption and irresponsible fossil fuel investment at the University of Strathclyde, as well as full negotiation with UCU over the gender pay and Ethnic pay gap, pensions, precarious contracts and working conditions.

The group also said many people are desperate to join their occupation, however security are stopping it from happening.

They tweeted: "Hearing that more students want to join our occupation - security not currently allowing any more students in.

"This is a peaceful, popular action and we welcome any students to join us in solidarity with @StrathclydeUCU - working to get everyone in the doors! #UCUstrikeback
