Strathcarron Hospice ask Falkirk locals to share their 'stories of connection'

People are being asked to share their 'stories of connection' about what Strathcarron Hospice means to them.

The hospice based in Denny serves Forth Valley and North Lanarkshire and turned 40 last year - but because of lockdowns - they are extending their celebrations.

Whether they looked after a loved one, or you're a regular shopper in one of their stores across the district, bosses are encouraging people to take to social media using the hashtag #OurStrathcarron, and tell the world what the hospice means to you.

People are also being asked if they can fill in their memory and hand it into one of their shops or upload it via the website.

The Hospice will then choose a few of these local stories and create a series of limited edition picture postcards for people to keep, share and treasure.

Fiona Hannah, Deputy Retail Area Manager, "We see and hear of such beautiful acts of kindness from local people who regularly visit, shop and donate to our charity shops.

"We are so inspired by how connected and proactive our community is.

"When I first moved to this area 12 years ago from London, I had no connection to Strathcarron Hospice, but ended up donating quite a bit of furniture and items to the Falkirk shop. I ended up being quite the regular, always enjoying a blether.

"The shop actually became quite important to me socially, everyone was so kind and welcoming. I then started to volunteer for Strathcarron before taking on the role to look after the retail shops 9 years ago.

"In a bid to capture some of this community spirit first hand and we hope to encourage people to tell their stories of connection to Strathcarron. The more surprising the better.

"Whatever your story of connection to Strathcarron, we would love to hear from you."
