Strathbungo Window Wanderland to return next month after two-year break

One of the southside's most popular events is back after a two-year hiatus due to Covid, with the organisers revealing the dates for this year's festival.

Strathbungo Window Wanderland, which sees the windows of local houses and tenements lit up in a spectacular style, is set to return at the end of February.

Now in its fifth year, the free and unticketed event sees residents and visitors alike taking to the streets to enjoy the incredible displays on offer in the windows of this vibrant southside neighbourhood.

Previous years on the walking trail have seen incredible performances in front rooms, amazing projections onto buildings, dance parties, giant human jukeboxes, intricate installations, pop-up bingo halls, hair salons and tattoo parlours and music filling the streets.

Organiser, Sarah Reid, explained that it's fast becoming a "cultural highlight of the community calendar", adding that it is a "street party like no other".

She said: "After such an unsettled period, that has been stressful and isolating for so many, it feels more exciting than ever to be organising this event that brings so much joy and magic to so many. Window Wanderland highlights what’s so special about our community and the beautiful and incredible things we can do when we come together.

"Residents are busy plotting, designing, painting, borrowing ladders and rigging lights all in the name of creating a beautiful walking trail through the area. We imagine the ups and downs of the past two years will provide rich fodder for many residents planning their displays."
