A former Strathaven Academy pupil has created one of Glasgow’s most sought after hair salons.
Jack Baxter is well-known to users of Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and alike, and is a ‘favourite’ among social media influencers.
At just 25, he’s been looking after the locks of some of Glasgow’s most successful online stars for years.
Everyone from Little Magpie to Kate La Vie all rely on him to transform their hair, with YouTube superstar Jamie Genevieve regularly making the most of Jack’s expertise.
Now the top trimmer has set up shop in Glasgow’s bustling southside, betwixt Shawlands and the ever-improving Strathbungo.
His Baxter South salon is an industrial-styled space that feels intimate and a little bit rock’n’roll, with a concrete countertop welcoming customers as they come through the doors.
The coolest hairstylist on the block has been creating quite the buzz since opening up just 12 weeks ago.
But Jack says he doesn’t buy into any hype, telling us: “Everything is so individual.
“I think it is less about trends these days and more about people.”
Jack earned his stripes working with some of the best salons in Glasgow from Mesart to the Rainbow Rooms.
And he’s been fortunate enough to work behind the scenes at fashion shoots and catwalk shows around the world, with a trip to Rome to style for a major designer on the horizon.
He prides himself on being independent, and sticking to his instincts instead of blindly following the status quo.
And that has been evident for some years, deciding on a whim one day to leave school for good to follow his dreams.
Since that day, Jack has steadily built his career – and his client book – adding: “I don’t use a lot of what I was taught anymore to be honest.
“I prefer to do my own thing.”
Famed, through his social media status, for his blonde transformations, Jack says he has to remind people “all the time” that he does more than just blondes.
