Lynsey Brownlie, clinical lead nurse, took to social media to quash fears that the potentially deadly virus had been confirmed among residents following concerned calls from worried relatives.
She said: "In reply to a number of calls received this morning regarding coronavirus, I would like to advise the public that we have closed our doors for two weeks as a precautionary measure following guidance and recommendations from NHS and NOT because we have a resident who has tested positive for the virus.
"The aim of the closure is to decrease the amount of traffic passing through our home and attempt to decrease the risk as much as possible. We are following best practice and advice given to us. Any further questions please don't hesitate to ask."
But Ms Brownlie added that it would not impact on the everyday running of the home for residents and staff.
NHS Lanarkshire have begun community testing to help minimise risk and are calling for calm.
Gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from next week, the Scottish government is advising.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said this was to free up emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, to deal with coronavirus.
She said it was not necessary to close schools and universities yet, but added that would remain under review.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to escalate the UK's response to coronavirus at an emergency Cobra meeting today.
