A murder probe has been launched after a teenage boy was stabbed to death in east London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Byford Close, Stratford, to reports of a fight at about 6.45pm Tuesday evening.

Medics battled to save the victim, who was found suffering stab injuries, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

No arrests have been made.

Increased stop and search powers were in place across Newham until 12.30pm on Wednesday, police said.

Scotland Yard said in statement: “A post-mortem examination and formal identification will take place in due course.

“There have been no arrests at this time.”

“Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime are leading the investigation.

“A Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act has been implemented across the whole borough of Newham until 12.30pm on Wednesday.”

The age of the victim was not immediately released by police.

Anyone with information which could help the investigation, is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD 6626/3 Sept.
