Strangers swap St Patrick's Day text message for eight years but know nothing about each other

You wouldn’t exactly call it the most thrilling conversation, but one duo has exchanged messages on Snapchat for eight years after they met once on St Patrick's Day.

The internet had implored the duo to meet again after TikTok user Britney shared her long-running exchange with the man on TikTok.

Her video explaining how the pair met - and showing how they've kept up a tradition for eight years was viewed millions of times.

A chance meeting at a crowded bar (remember those?) on March 17th in 2013 has become a weirdly sweet tradition.

The duo swapped shirts during their respective nights out after Brit decided she preferred the look of his while out partying.

Brit shared the story in a viral TikTok which has been viewed more than four million times (@brit_d3/TikTok)

The pair duly swapped Snapchat details and continued on with their raucous nights out (remember those?).

And since they have sent each other a photo of them wearing each other's shirts to celebrate St Patrick's Day every year.

It's all very sweet - though Brit admitted she STILL doesn't know the name of the man despite keeping up the tradition for such a long time.

The tradition lasted another year (@brit_d3/TikTok)

Instead, he's still classily saved in her contacts as 'St Patricks guy', which seems like something that could be updated.

In the first video, which has been viewed four million times, Brit explained that she saw the man at the bar and preferred his shirt.

She joked: "He didn't want to trade so I told him I would tell the bar cop he tried to sell me drugs if he wouldn't trade.

"He appreciated the flex and swapped shirts with me. Now he has snapped me a picture of himself in that shirt every year for the past eight years."

She added: "We aren't married and we speak once a year on March 17th but I'm his biggest fan."

People were left in stitches by her story and Brit shared photos of the sweet moment after contacting 'St Patrick Guy' to alert him that their story was going viral.

One person asked: "You've been snapping for eight years and you don't know his name?"

Brit replied: "No haha, I still don't know his name/job/location/age."

She added: "We send two snaps. Him in my shirt and me in his. Tradition was broken this year because we talked a lot about this TikTok."

Naturally lots of people want the pair to meet, now that their story has gone viral.

One person commented: "And you're not going to marry him???"

Another said: "Love story potential," while a third added: "This is freaking hilarious."
