Strangers save little girl choking on chewing gum: Viral video winning hearts online

We often tell our kids not to seek any help from strangers. Especially if it's a girl child and a group of men, every parent or teacher would say, "Don't even go to them and end up in trouble." But this video from Kerala proves that, in times of need, it is the strangers who become the real saviours.

CCTV footage from the roadside of Kerala, Kannur, is making rounds on social media. In the video, an eight-year-old girl is seen standing on the opposite side of the road with her bicycle. On the other hand, there is a group of men on their two-wheelers having a friendly chat. After a while, the girl comes near them on her bicycle and expresses her discomfort. Soon, one of the men lifted her and pressed on her back; others also joined him. What had happened was that the kid had choked on chewing gum, and they couldn't dislodge it. Undoubtedly, it is the presence of mind of the kid to seek their help and their timely intervention that has saved the life of this little girl.

Soon after the video is out, praises are shown for both.

'The child was aware and asked for help at the right time. True gentlemen,' reads a comment.

'I want to see this video again and again; such a good deed work. A brave girl and helping boys,' reads another comment.

As the video rounds on social media, let us take a pause and think, who is the real hero here? Is it the girl who boldly went to the men when she was in trouble? Or is it the men, who without even hesitating a second, rushed to help her? Well, we could say it's the parents of both the men and the little girl. Thank you for making her believe that not all strangers are villains. To the parents of the men, thank you; you have raised a group of good humans and gentlemen.

Saying that, it is also to be mentioned that the awareness of first aid shall also be made mandatory. It is the presence of mind of the men to do the necessary first aid that has saved the kid. So, everyone should have a minimum knowledge of first aid, which can save a life.
