Stranger Things season 5 volume 2's trailer teases a character's death and I'm already terrified

  • Stranger Things season 5, volume 2, has an official trailer
  • It hints that some major deaths may be happening
  • Season 5 marks the end of the long-running Netflix series

Contains spoilers for Stranger Things season 5, volume 1.

Stranger Things season 5 is split into three parts because Netflix loves drawing out the suspense. We still have a little while to wait until volume 2, which is released on December 25.

But if you're keen to have an early holiday gift, Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Stranger Things season 5, volume 2, to give you a peek at what's coming up next for one of the best Netflix shows.

Take a look at the trailer below.

What's coming up for Stranger Things season 5?

Stranger Things season 5, volume 2 consists of three episodes, which are released simultaneously at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. The big finale, volume 3, drops on New Year's Eve at the same time.

As you can see by the trailer, we've got a big storm coming, with the anticipated (or dreaded?) return of Vecna, and some dramatic scenes making references to the Upside Down with a very fitting soundtrack, too.

Most disturbingly of all, the trailer may have dropped a hint that two fan favorites could end up dead during the fifth and final season. Perhaps I'm reading into things, but this show has given me serious trust issues (justice for Barb, honestly).

In the Stranger Things season 5, volume 2 trailer, we see Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) solemnly telling Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo): "If you die, I die". It could just be a dramatic promise, or perhaps it is hinting at something more sinister.

It seems we're about to learn so much more about the Upside Down and its unwelcome inhabitants, and we've only got four more episodes to see what happens to our favorite characters. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling nervous.

Volume 2 opens on a high note, though, with The Shawshank Redemption's director Frank Darabont directing the first episode. Hopefully, he doesn't break our hearts in the process.
