Perhaps we should be worried about Billy Hargrove.
Following his introduction in season 2, bully Billy (Dacre Montgomery) became a staple of Netflix hit Stranger Things , but now it sounds like he will play a bigger role than ever before.
Following the most recent trailer that suggested Billy will become the next big bad of the series, fans have been concerned about who or what the character is becoming.
Now Montgomery has added further fuel to the theories in a new interview with Syfy Wire .
Dacre Montgomery said of a supernatural storyline for his character that was originally planned for last season: "They had sort of promised this arc. We had discussed it."
And now it is finally coming in the new season, meaning Montgomery was prepared.
"I came in with a whole backstory for Billy," he said. "They rang me about two months before they started writing, and I read them this crazy side storyline — it’s actually embarrassing looking back at it — but I wrote a whole thing. And they included elements of it."
The actor also revealed how his own contributions to Billy's origins have been used by the showrunners.
"I wanted to delve into who my biological mother was, and that's something that’s explored this season. That just shows you how collaborative they are. Whether they were thinking about that already or not, that was something I brought up with them when they asked me."
But it isn't just an emotional journey for the character this season, it's also a physical metamorphosis.
"Certainly, at least for Billy this season, I had a lot of CGI tracking dots on me," he revealed.
But who was Montgomery inspired by for his new storyline? Apparently the show's creators - the Duffer Brothers -told him to look to Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's seminal horror adaptation of Stephen King novel The Shining, as well as the rest of the Oscar-winner's career.
"His whole career. Every role he’s played. Because he has this unpredictable nature. That was the thing that the Duffers had mentioned to me."
We can't wait to see what Montgomery and co have in store.
