Stranger Things fans stunned as Netflix confirm 'plot twist' that viewers missed

Stranger Things fans were left 'mind blown' on Tuesday as Netflix pointed out a very specific plot twist that many had clearly missed.

The first part of season 4 dropped on the streaming service on May 27, and ever since then, viewers have been eagerly awaiting the final two episodes.

But ahead of the finale, which lands on Friday 1 July, Netflix have been teasing titbits - such as an epic new poster.

However, one particular tweet had viewers talking on Tuesday as the official Twitter account pointed out a teeny tiny detail in a scene between Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower).

Various scenes in season four episode seven, which is entitled The Massacre at Hawkins Lab, show both characters in a recreational room at Hawkins Lab which is decorated with a rainbow stripe on the walls.

Posting two stills side-by-side, one of Henry, and one of Eleven, Netflix simply captioned it: "When you spot that the rainbow behind him was UpSiDe DoWn..."

The Upside Down is an alternate dimension that reflects onto the real world and has featured in Stranger Things since season one.

It means that Henry could have been in the Upside Down the entire time and would explain his transition to Vecna.

Fans of the show were stunned that they hadn't noticed that the colours of the rainbow were back-to-front in certain shots of season four.

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: "Not me running back to this episode and my mind exploding."

The character Eleven is played by British actress Millie Bobby Brown (NETFLIX)

Another said: "omg we would have never noticed that," while a third replied: "But.... The upside didn't exist at this point! mind blown."

A fourth person added: "Oh holery sheetballs never noticed that," while a fifth joked: "Plot twist; It's actually the right way up."

It comes after Netflix shared a trailer for the final instalment of Stranger Things last week.

In the two-minute clip, Dr Brenner is heard saying: "I know you're frightened, you're terribly frightened by what you've seen, but I'm not gonna lie to you, your friends are not prepared for this fight. Hawkins will fall."

However, Eleven is determined to save Hawkins as well as her friends - but only time will tell if she is successful, and if everyone survives.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 drops on Netflix on Friday 1 July.
