Stranger Things fans convinced major character is returning after clue in teaser

A teaser for the fourth season of Stranger Things has just dropped - and fans are already hunting for clues.

The cryptic clip, which was released on the official Twitter account, seems to take place at the Hawkins National Laboratory, in a place called the 'Rainbow Room,' which, for those who don't know, served as a playroom for Dr Brenner's test subjects.

It saw seven old-school TV screens in a circle showing static noise.

One by one the screens turn on for a few seconds, displaying creepy images, which included a door handle, a chessboard and an eight ball from a game of billiards, all with blood spatter on them.

The description says: "Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice. We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00AM ET".

Fans were thrown into turmoil (NETFLIX)

Fans were sent into a frenzy as they made a connection between the eight TV screens and the eight ball to Kali Prasad, also known as Eight (played by Linnea Berthelsen), as it was speculated that she'd be making a return.

One person said: "Wait Eight TV screens?? That means Kali is in S4."

Another fan wrote: "okay rainbow room ?!"

Kali is a recurring character who was introduced in the second season as a test subject like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) at the lab.

The girls grew close over the three episodes that Kali featured before never being seen again.

Could she be making a return?

But other viewers were "more confused than ever" over the clip, as someone else said: "I can't keep having breakdowns every day."

A few people also believed that the description of the video '002/004' was a sign that there were another two trailers coming before the release of the fourth season.
