Stranger Things drops new series 4 trailer hinting at Eleven's chilling backstory

Stranger Things has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming fourth series, sending fans of the sci-fi Netflix show into meltdown.

The teased show young children all in hospital gowns, just like Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, was when she was found in the first ever episode by Jim Hopper.

They are being experimented on, carrying out various tasks and challenges in a cold, clinical setting, overseen by Dr. Brenner.

Dr. Brenner says: "Good morning, children."

"Good morning, papa," reply the children in unison.

He asks: "How are you today?"

"Good, papa," they reply.

‘I’m glad to hear it, because today, I have something very special planned for you," Dr. Brenner says, menacingly.

The camera then zooms in on one of the doors at Hawkins National Laboratory, marked with the number 11, as chilling music intensifies and the sound of panting can be heard.

"Eleven, are you listening?" he asks, and Elevens eyes suddenly open in terror.

On its official Twitter account, the programme shared another video on Wednesday which subtly announced that Thursday would be the release date for the trailer.

The video showed seven televisions arranged in a circle, all flashing on at different times with various images which included a door handle, a chess board, and an eight ball all covered in blood.

There was also CCTV footage from what might have been a shopping mall - like the one viewers last saw the gang in after they defeated the Demogorgon.

The description read: "Due to technical difficulties, Hawkins National Laboratory will be closed until further notice.

"We will be back in service tomorrow at 9:00AM ET".

While the last series did end with Eleven saving her friends from the monster, she apparently lost her powers in doing so.

Meanwhile, the characters all think Jim Hopper is dead after Joyce Byers had to close the gate to the Upside Down with him trapped in it.

But viewers then saw him in post credits scene at a war camp in Siberia with his head shaved, doing hard labour for the Soviets after apparently blowing up their facility.

Fans have many questions - but there is not yet a release date for the fourth series after it was delayed from its planned early 2021 release due to Covid.
