Stranger Things 3 star speaks out on THAT character death fan theory

Warning: Spoilers for Stranger Things 3

The third season of Stranger Things has caused a lot of commotion, not least because of its epic finale which produced many tears and epic moments.

One of the most poignant was the apparent death of Eleven's adopted father, Chief Jim Hopper ( David Harbour ).

Having been a hero since the beginning of the series, the moment where he and Joyce ( Winona Ryder ) shared a tearful look of recognition before he was engulfed by an explosion that closed the portal to the Upside Down was too much emotion to handle, topped only by when Eleven ( Millie Bobby Brown ) read his speech following his death.

But, many fans are convinced that the character is still alive after the end credits scene revealed an "American" was being held captive in a facility in Kamchatka, Russia.

Now David Harbour has spoken about the theory to Entertainment Tonight .

Harbour said: "I mean, I have no idea! I have no idea! I mean that, of course, is my hope too. It seems pretty crazy though.

"You know, that machine went off and blew up and Hopper seemed to be trapped there. He did glance around a little bit, but he seemed to be trapped and the machine exploded.

"And then you cut to, what was it? It starts with a ‘K’ or something – some town in Russia, right? Where there’s some American and there’s some other prisoner. I don’t know, I mean it seems strange. I don’t know how though."

Well, good thing that , then!

Stranger Things 3 is available now on Netflix.
