Stranger pays for stranded woman's shopping because 'it's Christmas after all'

A woman who was stuck at a till unable to pay for her Christmas shopping was helped out by a festive-minded stranger.

Tracy Clarkson was just about to pay for her shopping in an Asda in Lancaster when she forgot her PIN.

The 45-year-old, who suffers from neurological problems associated with Lyme disease and was enduring Christmas stress, was completely stumped.

Her dilemma was heard by a stranger in the next aisle who decided to come to her aid, Lancashire Live reported .

The kind man pulled out some money, handed it to Tracy and said: "This one is on me - it's Christmas after all."

The heart warming encounter took place in a Lancaster Asda (Google)

The generosity of the gesture left Tracy in shock and caused her and a pair of shop assistants by her to shed a happy tear.

Tracy decided to post about the random act of kindness on social media.

She said: "Thank you to the kind stranger who offered to pay for my shopping today in Asda when I couldn't remember my pin number for my card.

"I have neurological problems associated with lyme disease and Christmas stress had caused a memory malfunction.

"He came from the next aisle after hearing my dilemma and pulled out the money and said 'this one is on me- it's Christmas after all'.

"I was totally overwhelmed. I couldn't thank him enough. He made me and two shop assistants cry."

"I cried at his generosity and he made me realise that there are still so many compassionate, generous and kind people in this country who perform random acts of kindness in so many ways.

"Let's keep looking after each other. Thank you."
