'Strange timing' Leeds United fans react to Marcelo Bielsa's decision to drop Kalvin Phillips at Brentford

More than a few eyebrows have been raised by Leeds United fans after Marcelo Bielsa opted to drop Kalvin Phillips to the bench for his side's must-win clash at Brentford.

The Thorp Arch product, who was named in the Championship team of the year, has dropped to the bench in favour of Adam Forshaw for the tea-time clash against the Bees as Leeds look to keep the pace with Sheffield United in the battle for the second automatic promotion spot.

That is one of two changes to the side that lost to Wigan, as skipper Liam Cooper returns from injury to replace Gaetano Berardi. after he missed the previous two matches.

Kiko Casilla continues in goal, with a back-line of Luke Ayling, Cooper, Pontus Jansson and Gjanni Alioski.

Forshaw comes into midfield, playing alongside Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts, while Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez provide width. Patrick Bamford will lead the line up front again.

Leeds began the day in third place, behind Sheffield United on goal difference. The Blades are currently in action against against Hull City in one of the day's 3pm kick-offs and surged to a 3-0 half-time lead.
